Ubisoft's The Warlords of Champions Tactics NFT Collection Mints Out, Surpasses $2 Million in Sales

"The Warlords of Champions Tactics," Ubisoft's NFT collection tied to the impending PC-based PVP tactical game Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles has been minted out.

The collection has surpassed $2 million in sales within hours of its public free mint.

Warlords and Champions

Contrary to assumptions, The Warlords are not the focal characters in Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles.

The spotlight belongs to the Champions—distinctive magical figurines, each endowed with unique appearances and skill sets.

Players must strategically assemble a squad of three Champions to navigate and counter opponents' actions in the dark world of Grimoria.

Owning one or more Warlords offers exclusive early access to the Champions figurine drop, allowing players to mint up to five Champions at no cost.

Looking at OpenSea, only 11% of the 9,999 NFTs available for sale.

This reluctance to release for sale, especially for a free mint, suggests a considerable portion of collectors aims to retain Warlords for unlocking subsequent free character mints in the game.

Oasys Chain

Despite The Warlords NFTs being Ethereum-based, Champions Tactics operates on the Ethereum-compatible Oasys chain.

The NFT series comprises 9,999 pieces, with 8,000 available through free minting, 1,000 allocated to the Oasys community, and Ubisoft retaining 999 for future marketing and NFT distribution initiatives.

Launch in 2024

Ubisoft is gearing up for the release of Champions Tactics: Grimoria Chronicles in 2024.

The game will be Ubisoft's first Web3 game, and was announced as part of Oasys' Special Event in Japan as part of Japan Blockchain Week.

As per the official website, players can anticipate a free Champions figurine drop during the game's launch, although details are scant on that front.

Prospective players should note that access to the game is restricted in several regions, including Algeria, Bangladesh, Belarus, Burundi, China, Cuba, France, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Morocco, Nepal, North Korea, Myanmar, Qatar, Russia, Sudan, South Sudan, Syria, Tunisia, Crimea, Sevastopol, and the non-government-controlled areas of Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions.

This is not Ubisoft's first NFT drop.

Just two years ago, Ubisoft, based in Paris, introduced its initial NFTs through its Quartz platform.

These first NFTs were integrated within Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon Breakpoint for Windows PC via the Ubisoft Connect platform.
